I also love this blog. Thank you for making it so easy to listen to all these great songs. As I listened, my mind jumped around from memory to memory. Among them -- I remembered singing to my own children. Lisa got ahead of me mentioning Abba Dabba Honeymoon. She probably remembers it because it tended to keep them wide awake -- but I also sang songs to make them sleepy. One that comes to mind is Too-ra Loo-ra Loo-ra which our father sang to us (among other Irish ditties) when we were very little.
And I remember, as children, you and I in the back seat of our parents' old car as we travelled on a "long" trip to our Aunt Lulu's or Baba's singing many songs -- one of them, Tell Me Why, which we sang (as I remember it) in perfect harmony -- taking turns doing the harmony.
One of the favourite memories that flashed through my mind was of my little three-year-old sister in the little old church in Newcastle Creek, up at the front, singing "Away in a Manger" all by yourself, so little and sweet in your red velvet Christmas dress, while your parents and sister sat in the congregation listening proudly. I hope that our children and grandchildren will keep the tradition going. Love you!
