This happened seven years ago but in the past few years this type of incident has become more common. We people who live in what used to be safe rural areas are now locking our doors. I am having my outer doors outfitted with more substantial locks and now even the fear of what might happen has moved into our minds. The bad world was out there but now it’s here.

Calling out “Who’s there?”, I heard, “I’m looking for John’s apartment”. Response…”No John here”. Then “OK, your door was unlocked, want me to close it for you?” A few days later the apartment was truly robbed while I was out. One of the other 300 robberies maybe??
